 MANDATORY COURSES

The only two mandatory courses are WCH (World Cultures) 201 y 202.

 

WCH 201 is an interdisciplinary course in which each lecture is given by a different professor of the program. The second one

WCH 202 is a sort of independent study with the advisor in which the student prepares his reading list for the M.A. or Ph.D.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 DEADLINE

The deadline to apply to join UC Merced and to receive a TAship is January 15.  

 

 

 


 

 

GPA AND GRE

Students must have a minimum 3.0 GPA and they must have the GRE (Non U.S. residents must also pass the TOEFL).

  


 

 

 TEACHING ASSISTANSHIPS

 

 

Once graduate students are accepted into the university, we will try our best to give all the students a full Teaching Assistanship with student fees waved (it will be more difficult for out-of-state and foreign students, but their some waivers for some of them as well).

 

 

 


 

SALARY

 

 The salary for GTAs is approximately $17,000 a year and the cost of living in Merced is quite inexpensive for California standards.
